I was in Khandala recently for a
destination wedding and we were booked at the Dukes Retreat, also the
venue for the wedding. And it was a beautiful wedding, to say the least.
We were staying in one of the cottages and even though I was there to
attend a wedding, it somehow didn’t feel like it. And I mean that in a
good way. It was an experience that I will cherish for years to come-
the smell of the rain, the view of the Western Ghats, and the luxury of
the rooms. Of course, we didn’t get much shut-eye due to the rituals
that were invariably held at odd hours (you know the drill!). But
whatever sleep I got, it was extremely peaceful and rejuvenating.
Coming
to their restaurants, the Panorama CafĂ© – by the poolside, was a great
option to dine at, any time of the day because the ambience was so
tranquil that I wished to spend all my waking hours there!
The
Duchess Restaurant is pretty good too- great place for Continental
cuisine. The bar- very British, is aptly named “High Point”, and it was
also great. We had a great time getting to know the future husband of my
friend over a couple of drinks!
Then
there’s the wedding venue itself! The team at Dukes had done up the
venue very tastefully and the place looked simply put- like an
inspiration! One of the best resorts in Khandala - according to me!
Highly recommended.
